Lara Bersano Calot oversees the strategic communications and digital transformation plan of the Trust for the Americas, managing public appearances, events, marketing, public relations, communications, and internal communications, and is also the spokesperson of the Trust. Lara is responsible for the social media strategy and the media outreach plan as well as the innovative digital transformation program. In her position, she leads a team of professional communicators, volunteers, contractors and interns that foster regional understanding of the Trust´s mission and vision and promotes the proactive engagement of the Trust´s Board as well as private and public partner institutions.
Before joining the Trust, Lara was responsible for the communications strategy of the Infrastructure Sector of the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington DC. During her professional career she also oversaw international public relations and communications at the University of Central Arkansas; she was an advisor of the communications team of the Chief of Staff of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires in Argentina; she served as Chief International Editor of ADN Magazine and Competencia Magazine in Latin America and the US; oversaw public policy and communications in public programs in Argentina, Ecuador and Venezuela, and worked in senior positions in NGO´s and private corporations in Latin American institutions.
Lara holds a BA in Public Policy Planning and Communications from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina and a Master´s Degree in Public Relations and Corporate Communications from Georgetown University in Washington DC. She was awarded the Golden Circle Award for excellence in Journalism for Peace in 2005 and the Rotary International Presidential Award in 2015 for Excellence in International Service. She is also an invited professor of George Washington University's Governance Program in Latin America and a lecturer in innovation, inclusion, and women empowerment in international forums.
