POETA DigiSpark Indigenous Communities
Indigenous communities in Latin America face significant barriers in digital transformation, such as limited access to technology and digital skills. In Mexico, states like Guerrero, Oaxaca, and Chiapas stand out for their high indigenous population and higher poverty rates. With the support of Microsoft Philanthropies, POETA DigiSpark, led by The Trust for the Americas in collaboration with AMEXTRA and Celamex, empowers Mixtec and Tlapanec communities through tailored training, translation into native languages, and access to seed capital. This initiative strengthens entrepreneurship and digital skills, helping these communities overcome challenges and thrive in the digital era.
