N.C.B. ICON Lab
In 2019, The Trust for the Americas, in partnership with the N.C.B. Foundation and MICO University, launched the N.C.B. ICON Lab in Jamaica. This space provides young people aged 16 to 30 with access to technology and training in digital, business, and leadership skills, fostering an entrepreneurial mindset. ICON, which stands for innovative, creative, exceptional, and nationalist, drives the development of change agents in vulnerable communities by integrating innovation, employment, and entrepreneurship.

The training program was excellent, and I am grateful for this wonderful opportunity. I learned so much, and it transformed me so I would be delighted to invite others to the Lab. I gained knowledge that allows me to be a better version of myself daily. The NCB Icon Lab strengthened my faith and helped me bring my business idea to life.
Completing this program impacted my perspective and mindset. I always dreamed of having a business, but I postponed it, believing I wasn't qualified or didn't have enough resources. Although I still face financial limitations, I have more confidence and have started working on my business: Wendy’s One Stop Ground Provisions and More, a small farm in Whitby, Manchester, Jamaica. Thanks to the NCB Icon Lab, I developed skills, a business plan, and am now looking for sponsors to make it a reality.
