The Trust for the Americas is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization affiliated with the Organization of American States (OAS) and was established in 1997 to promote private and public sector participation in projects that reflect the principal goals of the OAS. The mission of the Trust is to execute capacity building programs, both for individuals and organizations. The Trust implements its programs through local partner organizations, with support from over 200 public and private sector partners in more than 21 countries throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
The Trust is headquartered at the OAS in Washington, D.C. and also has a legal presence in Colombia and Mexico, making all donations to the Trust in these countries tax deductible. The Trust is made up of staff from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals from throughout the hemisphere.
The Trust’s Board of Directors is comprised of senior officials from the OAS and leading executives from prominent companies throughout the hemisphere, including: CEMEX; Chevron; Chrysler LLC; COPA Airlines; ENSE Group; Manatt, Phelp & Phillips, LLP; Microsoft; and Organización Ardila Lülle.
